Line&Wine began on the pool deck of founder Michelle Schmidt’s home, where a small group of dancers would gather for lessons under the open sky. What started as a casual space for sharing steps and laughter quickly grew beyond what her porch could hold. Michelle transformed her granny flat into a cozy studio, and even that soon filled to capacity.

As the community expanded, Michelle partnered with Allison Jameson, and together they began searching for dedicated studio spaces around Cape Town. Messages poured in from people wanting classes in new areas, inspiring the team to open additional locations to meet the growing demand.

Today, Line&Wine proudly runs four studios, with classes happening every night of the week. With multiple passionate instructors and a vibrant, diverse community, the family continues to grow—welcoming dancers of all experience levels and all walks of life. What began as a gathering on a pool deck has become one of Cape Town’s most inclusive and uplifting line-dance communities.
